A Glimpse of the Past

Las Vegas Sphere, owned by Sphere Entertainment (NYSE: SPHR), first gained attention during a 2023 Formula 1 race in downtown Las Vegas. Its exterior ad space, notoriously pricey at $450,000 for a day and $650,000 for a week, hinted at the venue’s potential to captivate audiences.

Advertising rates are reportedly sky-rocketing to an eye-watering $2 million for a rotating spot during the week of Super Bowl LVIII as demand intensifies.

As sports reporter Joe Pompliano shared, all ad slots are already spoken for, hinting at the extravaganza the Super Bowl LVIII is expected to be.

A Potential Harmonious Reunion

Rumors of a reunion of Dead & Company at the Sphere have finally been substantiated, infusing excitement among fans. The band’s tantalizing video hinted at promising shows to come, adding to the venue’s allure.

The band comprises three iconic Grateful Dead members; Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann – along with the talented John Mayer. Their farewell tour in 2023 left fans yearning for more.

A Promising Future

The excellent reception of concerts by U2 and the extended run at the venue, coupled with the upcoming Phish performance, bode well for Las Vegas Sphere.

Speaking of revenues, Sphere Entertainment reported a $118.0 million first-quarter revenue, with event revenue reaching $4.1 million. It should be noted, however, the first-quarter results did not entirely include revenue from sold-out U2 concerts and the opening of “Postcard from Earth” in October 2023.

As the company gears up to release second-quarter financial results on February 5, all eyes are on the potential windfall from Super Bowl LVIII, a pivotal moment for advertisers and the venue alike.
